Optimizing groundwater recharge plan in North China Plain to repair shallow groundwater depression zone, China

چکیده
The North China Plain is one of the main grain producing areas in China. However, over-exploitation has long been unsustainable since water supply mainly from groundwater. Since 2014, South-to-North Water Diversion Project’s central route charted to integrated management and over-exploitation, which alleviated problem a certain extent. Although Ministry Resources made many efforts on groundwater recharge 2018 most have successful, not yet sufficiently focused repair shallow depression zones. It still needs further optimization. This paper discusses this particular issue, proposes optimized plan provides following recommendations: (1) Seven priority target are selected for alluvial proluvial fans piedmont plain, storage capacity estimated be 181.00×108 m3; (2) A 31.18×108 m3/a required by 2035 achieve target; (3) proposed increase Hutuo River, Dasha River Tanghe 19.00×108 rehabilitate Gaoliqing-Ningbailong Depression Zone; Fuyang Zhanghe Anyang 7.05×108 Handan Feixiang-Guangping Luanhe 0.56×108 restore Tanghai Zone Luanan-Leting moderately reduce amount recharged Canal Yongding prevent excessive rebound groundwater; (4) Recharge through well implemented pilot basis severe urban ground subsidence coastal saltwater intrusion; (5) An early warning mechanism quality risks established ensure safety. numerical flow model also proves reasonable level restoration zones 2035.

Assessment of Shallow Groundwater Recharge from Extreme Rainfalls in the Sanjiang Plain, Northeast China
Groundwater recharge from rainstorms can be vital for regional water resources. With the expansion of the need for more water in some specific regions under global climate change, groundwater is being pumped at a far greater rate than it can be naturally replenished. Considering that excess rainstorms could be utilized for groundwater recharge to lessen the declining tendency of regional ground...
متن کاملEstimation of Groundwater Recharge Using Tracers and Numerical Modeling in the North China Plain
Water resource shortage has been a serious problem since the 1980s in the North China Plain (NCP), resulting in plenty of environmental problems. Estimating the groundwater recharge rate accurately is vital for managing groundwater effectively. This study applied several methods, including chloride mass-balance, tracers (bromide and tritium) and numerical modeling (Hydrus-1D), to estimate groun...
متن کاملApplication of MODFLOW and geographic information system to groundwater flow simulation in North China Plain, China
MODFLOW is a groundwater modeling program. It can be compiled and remedied according to the practical applications. Because of its structure and fixed data format, MODFLOW can be integrated with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology for water resource management. The North China Plain (NCP), which is the politic, economic and cultural center of China, is facing with water resources sh...
متن کاملGroundwater recharge from irrigated cropland in the North China Plain: case study of Luancheng County, Hebei Province, 1949-2000
Effective management of limited water resources in the North China Plain requires reliable calculation of historical groundwater balances at local, sub-watershed scales. These calculations typically are hindered by poorly constrained recharge estimates. Using a simple soil-water balance model, we independently calculated annual recharge from irrigated cropland to unconfined alluvial aquifers un...
متن کاملGroundwater recharge at five representative sites in the Hebei Plain, China.
Accurate estimates of groundwater recharge are essential for effective management of groundwater, especially when supplies are limited such as in many arid and semiarid areas. In the Hebei Plain, China, water shortage is increasingly restricting socioeconomic development, especially for agriculture, which heavily relies on groundwater. Human activities have greatly changed groundwater recharge ...
